THE VIBE: Reflections in the Dunes

Home Tour in Marrakech
Marrakech is a place very dear to our hearts, and more often than not, our go-to for a solid getaway. If we were to switch it up — which we very well might — we’d be knocking on the doors of the Shamma Residence, just outside Cairo, and putting our feet up in what must be one of the most charming, peaceful, and refined homes in Egypt.Architectural Digest recently did a special on the residence, designed by architect and designer
Tarek Shamma. Well worth a look.

Staying in the dunes — the Dakar Rally is on.
Originally the Paris–Dakar Rally, it remains one of the most epic motorsport events in the world, sending racers across deserts, dunes, and unforgiving terrain, testing both machine and human to their absolute limits.First run in 1978 and spanning roughly two weeks, Dakar has also become a stage for some of the wildest vehicle builds ever conceived. Goodwood has curated their nine all-time favorites from the race (yes, including a Rolls-Royce), which is well worth browsing.
And if that sparks your interest, take ten and dive into Dakar highlights from 2025 before putting your foot on the pedal.

Davey Leavitt
Davey Leavitt is a Los Angeles–based artist and designer whose practice sits at the intersection of culture, identity, and symbolism.
Late in the fall, we came across this piece of his work and felt compelled to ask the man himself. Here’s what he shared:
“I Am Not My Father explores masculinity as something we inherit rather than consciously choose. Many of the traits we label as masculine were formed in ancient times, shaped by scarcity, access to resources, and the need for survival. While those behaviors may once have served a purpose, we continue to perform them today long after their relevance has faded.By using the Marlboro Man — a symbol of hyper-masculinity — and removing his face, I wanted to strip away dominance and certainty. Replacing it with a mirror turns the image back onto the viewer. It asks a simple but uncomfortable question: are these masculine traits actually mine, or are they masks I was taught and conditioned to wear? The mirror exists as both a literal and metaphorical reflection, inviting us to consider what we’ve inherited versus what genuinely belongs to us.”

Didn’t know you’d be looking for a soft Latin commute playlist as you ease back into daily rhythms in the new year right? We did. Footballer Hector Bellerin’s surprisingly solid curation of jams, shared via SoccerBible, does the work.
