Polido
Polido is a high-gloss calf leather with a smooth, mirror-like finish - the most formal and refined of our leathers. It is produced by applying repeated layers of pigment and finish to the surface of the hide, resulting in a tight, almost lacquered appearance. What makes polido special is how it responds to wear and care over time: with consistent attention, it develops a deeper, richer lustre that no new shoe can replicate. It is firm on first wear but softens gradually, and its high-shine surface makes scuffs more visible - which means regular maintenance matters more here than with any other leather.
Do
- Wipe clean with a soft, damp cloth after each wear
- Apply neutral leather cream monthly to maintain suppleness
- Buff with a horsehair brush for a high shine
- Store with shoe trees to retain the toe shape
Don't
- Use silicone-based polishes or waxes - they build up on the surface
- Expose to prolonged rain - wipe dry immediately if wet
- Use abrasive cloths or scrubbing motions
- Apply too much cream - less is always more on polido
