Textured
Textured leathers are smooth leathers that have been embossed with a pattern - typically mimicking the scales of exotic skins like crocodile or lizard. The process uses heat and pressure to press the pattern into the hide, giving the surface a three-dimensional relief that catches the light differently at every angle. The result is a leather with significant visual depth and personality - a quiet statement that rewards a closer look. Because the surface is patterned rather than flat, dirt and product can collect in the grooves if you're not careful. The texture itself is also more vulnerable to distortion under heavy scrubbing or product build-up, so a light hand is always the right approach.
Do
- Use a soft-bristled brush to clean along the grain of the texture
- Apply balm lightly with a soft cloth - work it into the grooves
- Use a protection spray to seal the surface
- Buff very gently - embossed patterns can flatten under pressure
Don't
- Scrub against the texture pattern - it distorts the embossing
- Apply heavy layers of product - it fills the grooves and loses definition
- Use stiff brushes - always use soft-bristle only
